A good day of qualifiers

For the Euro 2012 qualifiers Denmark had to defeat Cyprus, and the match was virtually over after 25 minutes, with Denmark winning 4-0. It ended 4-1, but Denmark did what they had to do, and will now be looking towards a group final against Portugal in Copenhagen next Tuesday. Denmark needs to win to win the group though, after Portugal managed a too difficult 5-3 win over Iceland in Lisbon.
In Caracas, I was unable to watch the match, and I am nervous that I will be unable to watch next Tuesday's match. What I will watch though, are the South American World Cup qualifiers, which I also watched yesterday.
Firstly, Uruguay started against Bolivia with an awesome strike force of Luis Suarez, Diego Forlan and Edison Cavani, and won 4-2. The next match I watched was Ecuador-Venezuela. Venezuelan coach Farias selection of players for this match was odd to say the least, as if they did not expect to win anyway, and this showed on the pitch, where Ecuador was superior in every respect, and won 2-0. Venezuela faces Argentina next Tuesday. Venezuela has never defeated Argentina, and with their performance against Ecuador and Argentina's outstanding 4-1 victory against Chile, it looks more likely that Argentina will prepare a "Churrasco a lo Vinotinto".
Argentina's new coach Alejandro Sabella started very well indeed: the Argentineans played around with Chile, and Lionel Messi, who scored one goal, connected well with Gonzalo Higuain, who scored three goals. Argentina's potential continues to be enormous, and one can only hope that Sabella has found the magic formula to make the team perform at the level it should!
But next Tuesday will be one of the greatest football days of the year!

By the way Congrats for Denmark, but this is bigger friend... Well it's not the end of the world but damn we Venezuelans have to celebrate this first time... We are already thinking in Colombia, we have to go to the world cup!!

Ha ha ha!
Congratulations! Another good triumph for Venezuela.
But there is a looooong campaign ahead, and if you begin celebrating already, like Portugal, some second-rate team, like Denmark, could shower you.
Keep your head cool. You are still a baseball-nation.

While I agree that Venezuela's victory is big, I do not agree that it is bigger than Denmark, a small country with little footballing talent, qulifying for the Euro.
Importance depends on the eye of the beholder
Yes, you won an important victory, but you are NOT qualified yet!
I think Venezuelans need to have the point system explained? ;)

I know we still have to win a lot of games but for our history this is bigger than anything...i guess Denmark thinks treir victory is bigger because is their history and of course 'cause they are in the euro and Venezuela isn't in the world cup....But we are still enjoying it specially against arrogant argentina...anyways fans enjoy and celebrate all the time but players are more conscious and they keep in mind what they have to do from now on and other sides now that Venezuela is growing up.... And of course this is a baseball-nation and its gonna be like that forever but we are gonna have an competitive and important football team recognized by everybody...and as fans, most of venezuelans will celebrate for a while and sure deride of argentineans.....and yes we now about points, last qualifiers we end with 22 points, just 2 points behind the 5th position (Uruguay) to pklay against a Concacaf team, it happened 'cause we lost some points when didn't have to and we hope (i think this team can do it) our players keep that in mind and do the best to go to Brazil..... By now we are gonna keep eating PARRILLA ARGENTINA Y BRINDARLES A TODOS UN BUEN VINOTINTO VENEZOLANO, celebraremos cuando haya que celebrar y sufriremos cuando haya que sufrir, así lo vivimos aquí, we are gonna keep eating parrilla until the next game, against Colombia and we’ll see if have to eat bandeja or if they drink Vinotinto….VIVA VENEZUELA!!!
